Characterizing the world's cancer cell lines
NIBR and the Broad Institute have developed The Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia that catalogs the genetic and molecular profiles of almost 1,000 human cancer cell lines, encompassing a wide variety of tumor types used in research and drug development.

In addition, the cell line collection can be screened for drug sensitivity to both drugs already on the market and drug candidates. Together, the genetic and sensitivity information can be used to build predictive models of what types of patients will respond to a particular class of drugs.
